Reading Bladder Cancer Support Group

Who are we?

We are a support group for man and women suffering from Bladder Cancer and, importantly, also for their partners/carers. Support provided includes the opportunity to talk to other members about their treatments and experiences. There is also the opportunity to put questions to our medical guest speakers and our 'resident' Royal Berks Hospital (RBH) cancer nurse specialist. Our group was started by the RBH in October 2012 and we currently have around 60 members.

Where and when do we meet?

We meet at St. Andrews Church Hall at the corner of Craven and London Roads, Reading RG1 5BD, right next to the main hospital entrance. This is very convenient for our medical speakers from the RBH. We meet monthly on the 4th Tuesday of each month (excluding August)  at 2.00pm  At our monthly group meetings we invite a variety of speakers including Bladder Cancer specialists from the RBH

New Members

Many of our members first attend a meeting after diagnosis and before treatment. They find that listening to the experiences of other members is very helpful at this critical time. We warmly welcome  new members. Membership is FREE to both patients and partners.

Our Aim

Our aim is to provide support for men and women suffering from Bladder Cancer, and their partners. We achieve this by offering information, support, and help, in an informal social setting where members can converse at regular meetings

Medical Information

The information that we can give is based on the experiences and treatments of members but we always suggest that patients see a consultant for advice on treatment specific to them.
